From beginning his legal in 1996 after graduation from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Jim has been a well-respected member of the Northern Illinois legal community with an excellent reputation for serving clients in numerous areas of law in both the public and private sector. Besides operating his own practice in Belvidere for almost ten years, Jim served as the Boone County State’s Attorney from July 2004 to December 2008.
His broad base of experience and exceptional work ethic make him a welcome asset to the law firm of DeRango & Cain, LLC where he will help clients in many areas of law, including: civil litigation, real estate, governmental law, criminal defense, estate planning & wills, DUI/traffic, land use, and general assistance to businesses. Jim’s experience includes many jury trials and other proceedings in courts located not only in Rockford (Winnebago County), but also Belvidere (Boone County), Sycamore (DeKalb County), Dixon (Lee County), Woodstock (McHenry County), Oregon (Ogle County), Freeport (Stephenson County), Waukegan (Lake County)and other jurisdictions across northern Illinois.
